Some games include multiple subtitle tracks to allow players to choose based on their primary language. This is most often seen in Europe where games often include French, Italian, German, and/or Spanish language tracks. European publishers therefore are able to release one version of a game rather than several to individual countries.
Subtitles are a more attractive localization option than dubs for languages other than English due to their comparatively lower cost.
