Retro Studios is an American videogame developer known best for developing the Metroid Prime trilogy. It was founded in 1998 by former Iguana Entertainment founder Jeff Spangenberg as a second-party Nintendo developer, though later became wholly owned by Nintendo (and thus a first-party developer).

Nintendo Australia pulls marketing stunt for Donkey Kong Country Returns

Donkey Kong Country Returns was released on the Nintendo Wii yesterday in Australia. Nintendo pulled a marketing stunt in Sydney by placing a huge pile of bananas labelled "Kong's Banana Hoard" in the middle of Circular Quay. Rumor: Retro Studios is reviving Donkey Kong

According to IGN, Nintendo second party developer Retro Studios (the team behind the Metroid Prime trilogy) is cooking up a revival of the beloved and venerable Donkey Kong series. They stress it's a rumor and that we should not sacrifice ourselves for Nintendo just yet, but they also stress it's a "credible" rumor, which means we'll probably sacrifice ourselves anyway.
