Sometimes I get embarassed through natural tendency, but catch myself in the process. Instead of turning it down, I turn it up, because I honestly think its ridiculous to be embarassed of what I listen to.
I'm paraniod, so i'm embarassed to listen to anything around anyone...I'm overly polite...when I'm in my car, I keep the volume ultra-low and sometimes off (especially at red lights), just because I'm aware other drivers are about and might take offense at my music (or just look at me wierd because I keep game OST's in my car and listen to them regularly....
unless i'm pissed, then I'll blare Dimmu Birgir as loud as I can in front of retirement homes...
This one time I took the Prodigy to work and played it cause I figured no one would mind, after all it's the Prodigy. Unfortunately they all hated it and made fun of my to no end from that day forth. Fuckers.
I was working under a world-reknown chef, great guy, had much epicurian knowledge to impart on the youth("How old are you?" '18.' "22? Awesome have a beer!") working in his high-volume baby in Bend, OR... Heh heh heh... Those guys... Such a rock-star crew, hoi vay... I'm working my ass off, 666 Faranheit Degree oven roaring at my back, plating 250 people an hour(no lie, wood-ovens and grills and rottiserie... ugh) and I can hear Prodigy going off in the back, and I see my coworker frolicking like a ballerina through the line everytime he came by. Seriously, Prodigy is great. Had a chance to burn ALL the albums, but totally blew that chance.
I have a ton of songs that I love, but are really are kind of embarassing to admit to listening to in public. I really, deeply love most hits from the mid 80s - the early 90s. Ice, Ice, Baby; I Touch Myself; Come on Eileen; I think I'm turning Japanese; and a million others.
Why? Because they are what I remember hearing on the radio while I still listened to the radio. They just make me feel good. Chris Rock has a bit where he says that the music that you listen to when you start getting laid is the music you'll love for the rest of your life. This is a similar situation, really. Just remove the coitus from the analogy and you have the reason why I love that music that isn't technically as accomplished as my general music fare. I associate it with pleasant things.
She's stocked full of all other music that's techno like Aqua. J-pop, the most.
I just checked, my techno folder is now bigger than my J-pop folder :p
O_o Rachel and I probably have very similar mp3 players... assuming, because I am an ass, that she has one.
does she have spice girls? that would make her even awesomeer!!!
I bought a 15GB iPod at the beginning of the year for $40 on eBay. within 2 months the battery was completely dead and I still need to send it in to be replaced, which costs around $60. Still $100 for a 15GB iPod is not bad at all.
I do have the first Spice Girls album, I just can't seem to find it now :/ That and my Chumbawumba...
