A true sequel of Final Fantasy IV, The After Years features as its protagonist Ceodore, firstborn son of Cecil and Rosa. Takashi Tokita contrived the idea for a series of mobile phone installments during the production of the DS remake. Initially released for mobile phones in Japan in 2008 as Final Fantasy IV the After Years: Return of the Moon, it was later in 2009 ported to WiiWare with an international release to North America and Europe.
