A Platform game for Nintendo 3DS by Nintendo in the Super Mario series
Apparently, they have no qualms about the frog suit though.
The idea for the Tanooki suit [in Super Mario Bros. 3] came from wanting to put a tail on Mario. We wanted to use tail for spin move as an attack. But we thought, well, we've got this great tail now, can't we do anything with it? So we added a flutter motion was like a propeller... once we started doing that, it felt so good we said, well, let's just make him fly!
Speaking to Edge Magazine today, Mario series creator Shigeru Miyamoto gave a few details on the upcoming Super Mario 3DS, including the release, which he claimed will be this year.
"It’s a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64," said Miyamoto. "It won't convey the message if I talk to you today, but if you play it at E3 that will give you more understanding of what I'm talking about... For example, the floors floating in space: in 2D it's difficult to judge the distance, but in 3D it's really easy."
Added Miyamoto, "The tail... on the logo – it's what you think it is. You probably know what's going to happen using that character."
