An Action-Platformer by Terry Cavanagh

VVVVVV (pronounced as "The Letter V Six Times" or "V's") is a 2D puzzle platform video game designed by Terry Cavanagh and scored by Magnus Pålsson.

In VVVVVV, the player controls Captain Viridian, who is lost in an alternate dimension, in search of the missing members of the spaceship's crew. Instead of jumping, the player is able to control the direction of gravity, allowing Captain Viridian to flip between the floors and ceilings of the environment. The graphical style of VVVVVV is heavily influenced by the Commodore 64; similarly, the game's music is entirely chiptune. In 2010 Pålsson released the soundtrack, PPPPPP.

Indie platformer VVVVVV is coming to Nintendo 3DS eShop courtesy of Cave Story publisher Nicalis. According to the publisher blog, VVVVVV on 3DS "features the same amazingly retro gameplay, aesthetic and chiptune music (by Swedish musician, Magnus Pålsson), but now in 3D and on the go with your 3DS". VVVVVV 3D will utilize the dual screen functionality with a real-time map and will also include new levels and content in addition to the original six levels and 20 trinkets. "I'm VVVVVVery excited about it!", said creator Terry Cavanagh. "This is the first time anything I've made has been on a console." VVVVVV 3D is expected to be released before the year's end.
