Wii Sports

A Sports game for Wii by Nintendo EAD in the Wii series

Wii Sports box art

Wii Sports was one of a kind, coming with every Wii in Europe, Australia, and America, demonstrating the prowess of the Wii's motion sensor, and supplanting Super Mario Bros.' 20-year reign as the best-selling game ever1.

Wii Sports comes with a host of five sports games and was first released in North America, showing Nintendo's new focus of fitness and lifestyle based games on the West. Players used the motion sensor and the technology of the Wii remotes, nicknamed Wiimotes, to swing golf-clubs, knock bowling pins and even land punches, in order to find out their fitness measured by age, and improve on it with monthly recordings.

We have not designed Nintendo 3DS and Wii U to be mere improved versions of their predecessors... We have designed them so that they can realize what has been impossible.
