World of Warcraft

A MMORPG game for PC by Blizzard in the Warcraft series

World of Warcraft box art

As the only game responsible for over a billion US dollars a year in turnover, World of Warcraft cannot be ignored by anyone seriously observant of games in the 21st century. Here is the next generation of interactive entertainment, its revolution equaled in importance only by the Wii. But while Nintendo's offering iterates the user interface at a hardware level, WoW's community paradigm is introducing a new group of people to the ideals of social gaming and the addictive, escapist nature of the MMORPG. It is practically a gaming platform of its own, while its second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, may prove to publishers around the world that the investment put up by Blizzard can be profited from for years to come.

BlogThe Darkness II has been rated MA15+ (legally restricted for sale/hire to people over the age of 15) twice by the Classification Board of Australia, after voluntary re-submission to include a newer version containing a sex scene. Coming with the advice of "strong horror violence, blood and gore, sex scenes and coarse language", the game was not refused classification despite very strong violence. Read on

QuakeCon 2010!

BlogRecently, I attended QuakeCon in Dallas, TX. For those of you who may not know, QuakeCon is an annual event, where many computer companies and developers come together to showcase their latest and greatest. The first con started in 1996 and has continued every year since then. This was only my 2nd time to the event; my first was in 2009, but some of my close friends have been going every year since 2003. The convention is always held in Dallas (or one of its suburbs), and usually occurs during the 2nd weekend of August. Read on
