The White Birch - Amnesia Fortnight 2012 pitch
Pitch by art director Andrew Wood for Amnesia Fortnight 2012 at Double Fine Productions.
An artist, art director and game designer at Double Fine Productions and (formerly) an art director at Crystal Dynamics, Sony Computer Entertainment and artist at Capcom
Andrew "Andy" Wood graduated Manchester Metropolitan University and began his career with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, employed as an artist in 1997. In 2000 he left for Capcom, joining them as a senior artist and working on Maximo: Ghost to Glory and Maximo vs. Army of Zin as a 3D artist. He later joined Crystal Dynamics in 2006 and worked on Tomb Raider: Legend among other titles.
In July 2011 he left and joined Double Fine Productions and began to work on The Cave as art director under Ron Gilbert. In the 2012 Amnesia Fortnight he pitched the idea for The White Birch, an ambient platform game where a young girl climbs a tower to escape a dark forest. The title became the third most popular pitch, and was therefore selected by the public as one of four prototypes to be developed.
