Hiroki Kikuta was born in Aichi prefecture, Japan. He earned a degree in philosophy and cultural anthropology from Kansai University in Osaka and went on to compose game music for Square. He composed the scores for several high-profile titles, including Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3. He also composed the music for the arranged soundtrack Secret of Mana + and later released the album Lost Files, which features both the demo tapes of his earliest music for Square as well as brand new tracks.12
Kikuta left Square in 1997 to found his own games studio, Sacnoth, whch floundered shortly after the release of its first title, Koudelka (which Kikuta also scored). More recently he released Alphabet Planet, his second album of original music. He writes an on-going blog, kiss twice, available at his website, Angel's Fear.
