Koji Igarashi has served as producer and director of several Konamigames, having his start as a programmer on the sidescrolling shooter Detana! Twinbee in 1990. Most notably, he is a staple of the Castlevania series, having been closely involved in each iteration since serving as Assistant Director on the acclaimed Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Igarashi stated in a lecture delivered at the 2007 Game Developers Conference that he will continue to work on 2D action titles. Not unlike the caped vampires who inhabit his famed action titles, the game designer maintained, "2D games will never die!"
