Go with Bulbasaur?

Unbelievable!
My house
Wild RATTATA appeared!

BlogI decided to play Pokémon for the first time recently, more than fourteen years after the original Pokemon Red and Blue came out for Game Boy. I guess the reason I picked it up is because I was sad that Jeremy Lin has a favorite Pokémon and I don't. Not to mention all the excellent Pokemon nostalgia that one is inundated with!

Anyway, I decided to start with the LeafGreen version, and, following the appropriate criteria, chose Bulbasaur as my first Pokémon. And with my excellent girl (!) Bulbasaur, I kicked the booty of the kid who I've been rivals with ever since I was a baby.

I'm in my 30s now, but I'm looking forward to finally catching them all!

Adults Only Rating Legislation Passed in Australian Parliament

BlogAustralian Minister for Home Affairs and Justice Jason Clare has announced that an R18+ category for games has finally been passed by the Australian senate. This means that the draft is now made law, and from January 1 2013 (subject to the states re-working their own respective legislation) games will be able to be rated for adults only. Read on

Square Enix's Latest Desperate Attempt to Lure People into Final Fantasy XIV

BlogFinal Fantasy XIV didn't get off to a great start. The game was launched on PC to little/no fanfare. In fact gamers reported so many problems and issues that Hiromichi Tanaka resigned as producer along with a number of other staff changes1. Now that Square Enix have spent time re-designing and re-working the game - they want people to give them money. Read on

Final Fantasy XIII-2 to Have Assassin's Creed DLC Costumes

BlogFinal Fantasy XIII-2 will make costumes available via DLC from Assassin's Creed. While the concept of a fictional crossover is far from new, I think we've reached a new low. I'm still yet to finish Final Fantasy XIII and therefore haven't started the sequel, but I can assure you this announcement is not making me want to get on board quickly. Read on

The Darkness II Proves Horrific Violence in Games is OK in Australia if Contextual

BlogThe Darkness II has been rated MA15+ (legally restricted for sale/hire to people over the age of 15) twice by the Classification Board of Australia, after voluntary re-submission to include a newer version containing a sex scene. Coming with the advice of "strong horror violence, blood and gore, sex scenes and coarse language", the game was not refused classification despite very strong violence. Read on

Metal Gear Solid HD Not Coming to Europe Until 2012, 'Transfarring' to be Japan Only

BlogKonami has announced that the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be available in the United States on November 8. Great if you live there. If you're in Europe - too bad. You have to wait until sometime next year, in 2012. Do we really still live in an era that requires months of extra waiting time for PAL releases because companies were too slack to get their European language localisation sorted earlier? Really? I call bullshit frankly, and I wish companies would move forward and localise things on time. It's not like Konami Europe didn't know the title was coming - what's the deal here? Final Fantasy XIII had no problem with this, neither did Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Even God of War III was only out a couple of days later in Europe than its United States release. More 3DS titles delayed due to poor 3DS sales

BlogNatsume has announced both Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns and Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove are both being delayed until October in the United States. While there's perhaps a less sinister reason for Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove (Halloween theme in October makes sense) both are being delayed due to poor early sales of the Nintendo 3DS. Read on

Is Yoshi's Island included in the 3DS "ambassador" package?

BlogSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is a true masterpiece. Everything comes together so nicely -- style, music, gameplay, level design -- to make it one of the very best platform games in the midst of a golden age of platformers. That the GBA re-release would be included in the "ambassador" package of 20 games given to current 3DS owners who payed $80 too much for their systems gave at least some small level of solace.

But will Yoshi's Island be included? Read on
