EveryonePlays launched a petition for the introduction of an adults only rating (R18+) to be brought into Australia's classification system. The petition has recieved over 89,000 signatures which therefore is Australia's largest recorded petition beating the previous 85,000 signatures against the 2005 Howard governments controversial Work Choices legislation which was rammed through both houses of parliament due to a rare majority in both houses at the time.

The petition has been forwarded to the Attorney General's department and was lead by retailer Game.1.

Final Fantasy V and VI DS remakes considered

Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto was in the question-answering mood yesterday, responding to a handful of queries thrown his way via the Square Enix Partners Twitter account. Hashimoto addressed the possibility of DS remakes for Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI, stating (according to Andriasang's translation), "for FF5 and 6, there are technical issues as well, so at present these are also undecided."12

Kotaku Japan uninvited from MGS Peacewalker launch event

As previously reported Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft wrote an article suggesting there was a conflict of interest in Famitsu scoring Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker 40/40 mostly due to Famitsu's Editor-in-Chief Hirokazu Hamamura appearing in Konami ads for the game.

Kotaku Japan has now been uninvited from a Peace Walker launch event by Konami and Famitsu has also written a letter raising concerns over the post1. Both of which Brian Ashcraft believes is interesting given that both events occurred on the same day.

A fan translation of the SNES release of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is complete. Although this is just the PlayStation script dropped into a SNES rom patch, many prefer the SNES release of the game due to the load times present in the PS game. Tactics Ogre games are known for their difficulty and excellent soundtracks, composed primarily by Masaharu Iwata and Hitoshi Sakimoto.1

Nobuo Uematsu rocks the hell out on drum set, promotes Distant Worlds II

That's right, the successor to the popular orchestral Final Fantasy arrangement album is finally upon us, and slated for an early summer release in Japan. Uematsu notes that "Dancing Mad", the beloved behemoth of a final boss battle theme from Final Fantasy VI, will receive special treatment from his newly formed orchestra: the "Earthbound Papas."

Mega Man 8: What Could Have Been?

B+I don't know if you, the reader, agree, but when Mega Man 9 came out people were overjoyed that Capcom had successfully reinvigorated a series that was considered stale. And then promptly returned to the "old standard" with Mega Man 10. But what gets me about this is that everyone seems to forget Mega Man 8, was is far as I am concerned a great step forward for the future of the Mega Man series. Read on

Famitsu scores Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker 40/40

As reported by Kotaku, Japanese magazine Famitsu has scored Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker 40/40. This makes the title the 14th to receive the coveted perfect score. Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft has lashed out, citing the fact that the magazine is actually available in the game, as well as the fact that the former Famitsu editor-in-chief Hirokazu Hamamura is now the President of Enterbrain, the publisher of the magazine. He is also in Konami's advertising campaign for the game and Ashcraft argues that this situation is harming the title.
