Majora Opera

Majora Opera (Demo #4)

The fourth available demo for an upcoming opera based on the tragic plot of Majora's Mask. This is the work of the freelance composer Miguel Bulteau and several supportive collaborators. Hyped for more? Check out the official website.

Description of the project, lifted from the blog:

Imagine there are only three days left to live, as the moon is on a course of collision with the world.

Imagine there is a young man who, among all the people who either ignore the incoming doom, refuse to believe it or are sadly resigned to it, has promised to marry the love of his life.

Imagine his unique symbol of their union, like our wedding rings, is gone, stolen.

Imagine he is determined to get it back and get married, regardless of the world’s fate.

These are elements from the game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, by Nintendo, released in 2000.

I find the dark ambient of this game and the moving plot of these two characters as beacons of hope and trust amidst all the fray to be very engaging, and very fitting of an opera.

Developing on the beautiful themes composed by Koji Kondo and Toru Minegishi, I have started writing it last year...

...what's great about Theatrhythm tapping is that it feels like you're playing against your own limitations. Instead of facing off against some arbitrarily-difficult creation of some bored programmer in Osaka, you're fighting your body's lack of rhythm. And getting better requires practice, not level grinding.
