Final Fantasy XII sequel, three additional titles announced
The news hit hard today with the most recent issues of Japanese gaming magazines VJump and Famitsu: Square Enix has unveiled no fewer than four titles currently under development for the Nintendo DS and Playstation 2. Alas, not a single one was Chrono Break.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings (Scan), scheduled for release on the Nintendo DS, will follow Final Fantasy XII protagonists Vaan and Penelo as they explore a floating content. Hopefully, a majestic, peaceful floating continent where an absence of concentrated evil will result in our heroes fending off swarms of locusts to assist local farmland. Hopefully.
Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix (Scan) will follow the plot of the original Kingdom Hearts II devoutly. In the tradition of porting international releases back to Japan, Final Mix will include English voice acting, various other additions, and what appears to be Chain of Memories-style combat.
Subarashiki no Sekai: It's a Wonderful World (Scan) is an original RPG for the Nintendo DS featuring development by none other than Tetsuya Nomura and the rest of his Kingdom Hearts team. It follows very easily then that the title's protagonist possesses the ability to read the hearts of others. Set in modern day, this action RPG will utilize the DS's touch screen for control as our hero is forced to play an unnamed game in Shinjuku. The best part? No Donald and Goofy.
Heroes of Mana (Scans) will be the series' first foray into the Strategy RPG genre. Produced by series creator Koichi Ishii, scored by Yoko Shimomura, and featuring scenario design by Masato Kato (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears), Heroes of Mana looks to be a quality title in the making. Get your DSs warmed up.
