Kickstarter is a crowd funding website for creative projects. Kickstarter has funded a diverse array of endeavors, ranging from indie films, music and comics to journalism, video games, and food-related projects.
As of August 15, 2012, four of the top five projects by funds raised were video game or console projects - Ouya, Double Fine Adventure, Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun Returns.

Project Phoenix is a squad-based tactical RPG being crowd funded on Kickstarter. The indie project brings together a team with experience on a large number of games from around the world, including Nobuo Uematsu, Kiyoshi Arai, Hiroaki Yura, John Kurlander and Donna Burke. As of August 26 the project is funded and nearing its second stretch goal of $650,000.

The Two Guys from Andromeda, creators of the Space Quest adventure games that were big in the 80s and 90s, have reformed as "Guys From Andromeda" and started a Kickstarter campaign to fund their new game.
I'm working with them to develop a set of prototypes during the campaign period. A new one will be released each time they hit $100k, and the first is already available.

I am recreating the entire first level of Super Mario Bros. out of LEGO® bricks, using one brick per pixel!
Zack, the self-described "Lego Maniac", is looking to get his $26,400 project to recreate Level 1-1 of SMB croudfunded via Kickstarter. So far, less than $2,000 has been pledged to the Maniac, with about three weeks left till the project funding deadline.
