The pairing of Hitoshi Sakimoto and Nobuo Uematsu for the FFTA OST may appear curious at first, considering that Sakimoto and longtime collaborator Masaharu Iwata have been joined at the hip for much of the last decade. (Most recently, Sakimoto and Iwata teamed up for Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis in 2001). But Uematsu has been credited only with the "Main Theme" so far, which suggests that the FFTA OST is virtually a solo effort. It may not have Iwata's distinctly militaristic, brassy flair, an enduring characteristic of the Ogre series and the original Final Fantasy Tactics, but the OST probably won't suffer from Iwata's absence. Sakimoto has demonstrated his considerable prowess on solo projects before (most notably, Vagrant Story's score). If any album for a Game Boy Advance game seems unusual (much less three - an arranged album and several drama CDs are in the works), note that the second disc of the OST features the "full sound versions" of the original compositions, similar to previous Ogre albums.
